Imbolc, or Candlemas, befalls on February 2nd and is a Cross Quarter Day considered to be between Midwinter and Midspring or halfway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox when traditional spring begins. It is also a day to celebrate the Sacred Goddess Brigid.
Known as Bhrìghde or Bride in Scotland, she appears in many different guises, with numerous names, in many different European cultures. Different from Greek mythology in which the Triple Goddess represents the three stages of a woman's life of Maiden, Mother, Crone; the Brides’ were all of the same generation and the distinctions between them were based on their domains of responsibility.
Bride, the 'Fire of the Hearth', Bride, the '"Fire of the Forge', and Bride, the 'Fire of Inspiration'.
Just in time for the upcoming Imbolc Cross Quarter Day, I've paired a Sterling Silver Brigid's Cross with a Black Tourmaline gemstone. The pendant measures approximately 1" to 1 1/2". This is a natural stone, size and shape may vary slightly from the photo.
Black tourmaline is said to repel negativity and prevent spiritual and psychic attack. A good, all-around protective gemstone, shielding the wearer from inner and outer harm. Believed to dispel scattered and chaotic energy such as worry and low self esteem. Would be a wonderful stone to wear when your confidence is under attack and for grounding, and centering which can help you see your day-to-day life in a realistic manner.
It comes with a 20" Chain and a Organza Bag all ready for gift giving.
